K-Dramas You Need to Watch In 2025

If you thought 2024 was a good year for K-dramas, get ready for 2025. So many exciting new shows are set to premiere, from romance K-dramas like When the Stars Gossip and the highly anticipated third season of Squid Game. Whether you’re a fan of thrillers, crime drama or rom-coms, here’s list of all of the K-dramas you should be watching next year.

First, we’ll start with the biggest of the bunch — Squid Game. The show became Netflix’s most-streamed series of all time after the first season was released in 2021, and the wait for more episodes has been pretty tough. While the second season will be released on December 26, the third and final season is also set to drop some time in 2025.

Hwang Dong-hyukthe show’s creator/writer/director, told Entertainment Weekly that he was originally only planning for one season when creating the show — however, things changed after the show was highly received.

“Honestly, when I was first working on the first season, I didn’t have any plans or thoughts about there ever being further seasons,” Hwang explained. “In Korea it’s not very common for series to have multiple seasons, and also because season 1 was so incredibly demanding, so I don’t think I had the confidence to once again work on further [seasons] where I would be the writer, director, and creator all throughout.”

He continued, “I do remember when I was finishing up my scripts for the first season, towards the end, I did have this vague idea, and I got to thinking about creating seasons 2 and 3, firstly because of the huge success of season 1 as well as there being just so much anticipation and expectation for the story to further develop by the fans. So I revisited that little bit of a possibility that I had left towards the end of season 1 after it was created, and we wanted to do a further story.”

Squid Game isn’t the only Korean drama fans are looking forward to next year! Scroll through our gallery below to uncover all of the most anticipated K-dramas releases in 2025:
